I've been using DaVinci Resolve for 3+ years and I've never hit an ad, paywall, pop-up, or anything of the kind. And there's no hidden nonsense there - you download and install, and you have a full-scale ad-free film editing suite. But you have to be comfortable operating on your own. This will be a rough learning tool if you're new to film editing - not an impossible one, and definitely worth the money. I do have to point out, though, that figuring issues out for yourself would be much harder without a background in film editing. The times when I have gotten stuck, I was able to figure it out searching online forums.
